For nearly a decade, a Foundation-funded van has helped the Cumberland Mental Health and Addictions team bring care and support to people across Cumberland County, helping clients attend appointments, access programs, and reduce isolation.
Now, the van is aging and costly to repair. This year’s Light the Way campaign will begin with the Journey to Connection Walk that will help purchase a new, accessible vehicle—ensuring people across Cumberland can continue to receive the care they need.
To raise awareness, Cameron Lindsey, who is blind, will walk a 348 km loop around Cumberland County over 12 days—from coast to coast, through towns, villages, and countryside—highlighting the importance of mental health care and reliable transportation.
This journey is called the Journey to Connection:
- Connection to care—helping people reach vital appointments and programs.
- Connection to community—supporting participation in programs that reduce isolation and foster recovery.
- Connection to hope—reminding us that every step matters in supporting mental health.
Your generosity will directly help purchase this new van, giving the Cumberland Mental Health and Addictions team the tools they need to continue supporting people across the county.
Together, we can light the way forward for mental health in Cumberland County.
