The Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre’s doctors, nurses and countless other staff have been taking every possible step in response to the Covid-19 pandemic. Preparations and plans are well underway for any potential surge in patients admitted from across the region in the months ahead, and protocols to protect patients and staff are in place.
Covid-19, however, is not the only challenge in our busy hospital. Patients are treated for many other conditions, lab tests are performed, surgeries have resumed, and the business of saving the lives of our friends, family and loved ones, with compassion, care, and professionalism, continues.
The Cumberland Health Care Foundation joins our medical partners at the forefront of care. We purchase equipment and apparatus for many of the hospital’s departments, support patients directly through the Cumberland Cancer Assistance, Palliative Assistance, and Mental Health & Addictions funds, work to recruit and retain health care professionals, and even manage the building’s gardens as places of rest, respite, and healthy exercise.
Because our normal ways of raising funds have been drastically impacted, the Foundation is now asking members of our community to consider donating to the Area of Greatest Need Appeal.
This is an unprecedented situation and the support of our community is needed more than ever before to make sure we can quickly respond to all emerging needs during the COVID-19 pandemic and beyond.
The Area of Greatest Need Appeal will ultimately help ensure we have the capacity as a Foundation to provide support where it is most needed in a timely and effective manner. Our goal is to ensure we provide the best possible care and safety for all patients, close to home, not just now but into the future.
